Ray Elbe leads MMA into Thailand: Phuket Gazette
I am not a gambling man. Vegas doesn’t look the way it does because more people win than lose. But the best gamble I made was on a MMA / BJJ fighter out of NO Limits, Los Angles, USA and a student of renowned BJJ Black Belt Juliano Prado. Ray Elbe took over the program at MMA Phuket and has never looked back. In this article, the Phuket Gazette takes a look at MMA in Phuket and Ray Elbe, head coach of Team MMA Thailand, BJJ Tournament competitor, and MMA fighter.
For details of this article and interview see the September 20, 208 edition of the Phuket Gazette or subscibe to the digital online version of the Phuket Gazette Newspaper @ www.phuketgazette.com

Randy (USA) wins Bangla Title in 4th fight @ Tiger Muay thai this trip
He trains hard everyday with some of the best trainers at Tiger Muay Thai and MMA training camp, pushing himself, despite the fact he is past the average fighting age at 40+ years old. In incredible shape, Randy claimed the Bangla title belt with a 3rd round KO on the evening of October 26, 2008. In a rematch fight, Randy changed strategy and out-boxed his opponent using strong jabs and combinations. However, it was a hard throw from the clinch that sent the Thai to the canvas for good and had the title belt wrapped around Randy’s waist. Tough fight. Randy shows what hard training can do with excellent trainers in your corner.

Team MMA Thailand heads to Russia for MMA Fight Event
Team MMA Thailand fighters in association with Bangkok Fight Club are heading to Russia for the 2nd year as Chad Hamzeh, Wiktor Svensson, Cyrus Washington and WMC Muay Thai World Champion, Berneung (making his MMA debut) in Mixed Martial Arts Event: Khabarovsk Russia, Governors Cup 2008.
MMA has become quite popular in Russia, known for Sambo style of martial arts fighting. Tiger Muay Thai and MMA training camp fighters will be in front of a crowd of 5000+ screaming fans and broadcast across Russia on TV networks to millions of viewers.
Andreas Hessleback, assistant trainer at Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Training Camp, prepared a special entry video and music for the fighters walk to the ring. Ray has shown Berneung, replacing Andy Gooch with an injury at last moment, some basic ground moves if he gets taken down. However, you can expect Berneung to come out Muay Thai style looking to elbow or drop his opponent with his vicious striking skills.
Cyrus is fighting a Sanda match in the main event which is similar to Muay Thai where fighters will be stood back up after any take down. Chad, Wiktor, and Berneung are competing in “Russian Rules” MMA which allows only 15 seconds on ground before being stood back up.
Good luck to Team MMA Thailand

Tiger Growls: Goes 1-1 @ Kata Muay Thai Stadium; Veronica wins by KO
All good things come to an end, and Ritt’s string of 9-straight wins came to an end in a war with his Thai opponent @ Kata stadium on October 22, 2008. Ritt won their first fight with a 2nd round KO, but the tables were turned in the rematch as these two hardcore fighters went to absolute war over 5-rounds. They cut each other as both took stitches, but in the end the refrees gave the fight to Ritt’s opponent setting up a grudge match.

In her 4th fight for Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Training Camp, Veronica continues to impress with another Ko over an opponent that was easily 6-8 Kg bigger than her and had arms the size of a male Thai fighter. But her strength mattered little when compared to Veronica’s clinch. Stepping inside the punches of her opponent, Veronica landed a series of knees in 3rd round that dropped her opponent for good and upping her record in Thailand to 4-0 with 4 KO’s. Impressive fight.
