It’s a huge week for Tiger Muay Thai & MMA Phuket alumni Tommy ‘GUN’ Murray as he prepares for his second MMA fight.

The 22 year old flyweight trained at Tiger in mid-September 2011. His training culminated in a win at the camp’s infamous monthly BBQ Beatdown promotion that brought his fight record to an impressive 12-2-1.

After a successful amateur MMA debut at Tiger, Murray moves onwards and upwards to compete at Sacramento, California’s Rebel Fighter promotion on May 26th 2012.

Aussie boy Tommy, has racked up a number of prestigious local Muay Thai titles. He is the current WMC Victoria Champion, WKA East Coast of Australia Champion and the WKA Australia champ. With domestic gold in the bag, Murray was recruited by current UFC fight Urijah Faber at his prestigious MMA Team Alpha Male camp in California.

Despite a promising Mixed Martial Arts career, Tommy was burdened by his former Muay Thai glory.

“I crossed over to MMA about two years ago but had to keep returning to Thai Boxing to fight and defend titles.”

An accomplished stand-up fighter, Tommy faces Steve Gruber – a seasoned MMA fighter known for his impressive ground game.

“My opponent is 4-4 in MMA. He has a high school wrestling background and not bad BJJ. Should be a tough for for me.”
