Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada, WBO/WBA lightweight champion (World #1 ranking) Juan Manuel Marquez (52-5-1, 37 KOs) retained his title with a ninth round TKO victory over interim champ and Tiger Muay Thai alumni Michael Katsidis (27-3, 22 KOs).

Katsidis,currently ranked the 8th best lightweight boxer in the world (boxrec.com) along with his trainer Brendon Smith have been to Tiger Muay Thai several times in the last few years to kickoff training camps.

Showing explosive hands it looked like an upset was going to occur when Katsidis dropped Marquez in the third round with a fierce hook, however Marquez was able to recover preventing the upset, in an exciting fight.
