Chechen lightweight and Tiger Muay Thai fight team member, Mairbek “Beckan” Taisumov, (20-4) is stepping into the most elite octagon for the first time when he takes his three-fight win streak into his first Ultimate Fighting Championship(UFC) fight in Singapore January 4th against South Korean fighter, Tae Hyun Bang(16-7), at UFC Fight Night 34.

Taisumov, who fights out of Vienna, Austria, has spent much of his career fighting for M-1 Global where he eventually became the M-1 lightweight champion. Taisumov is an exciting fighter with a penchant for finishing his opponents. Of his 20 victories he’s finished 19. He’s knocked out or TKO’d his opposition in 10 of his victories, while submitting nine others.

Taisumov now fights and trains out of Tiger Muay Thai, Phuket where he was scouted by UFC Vet Roger Huerta. Huerta and many others noticed his talent and work ethic straight away and Roger has taken him under his wing ever since to ensure that he is the next UFC Light Weight Champion. “I think he’s the next GSP,” said Huerta.

Taisumov also trains under 4th degre Black Belt Fernando Maccachero and Tiger Muay Thai MMA coach and UFC fighter, Brian Ebersole.

Taisumov began his professional MMA career in 2007. His sporting career began as a professional soccer player and he began training in freestyle wrestling before taking his first fight in 2007. He quickly became a fan favorite with his aggressive striking style and heavy ground and pound attack.

“Beckan” was picked up by the UFC in late 2013. He is set to make his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 34 in Singapore against Tae Hyun Bang.

“I’m looking forward to some big fights and I’m honored to be his coach,” said Huerta.
