With a newborn baby, a spot on The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes, and his first-round knockout win in his UFC debut, Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Training Camp Phuket, Thailand alum Benny Alloway is finishing off 2012 in great style.

Alloway (13-3), who was training at TMT earlier this year alongside the camp’s Head MMA Coach Brian Ebersole, defeated fellow Aussie Manny Rodriguez via KO in the waning seconds of the first round this past weekend.

After a brief stoppage, Alloway caught Rodriguez in the jaw with a nicely-timed front right kick that dropped his opponent and nearly put him to sleep.

The win earned Alloway ‘Knockout of the Night’ just as he learned his previous fight against welterweight finalist Brad Scott was named ‘Fight of the Season’. He took home home $65,000 total for both honors.

The fight was the fight Aussie v Aussie fight in UFC history. Alloway started training in MMA to get back into soccer shape following an injury just a few years ago.

The win is especially sweet after the birth of his daughter, Chael. He spoke to CageJunkies.com of the difficulty of being in The Ulitmate Fighter house while his wife was pregnant.

“There were times when I just wanted to talk to her. It was incredibly hard. I tried to get a phone call out to her, but the producers told me that if they did it for me they’d have to do it for everyone. It made sense and even though it was hard for me, it was worth it in the long run.”
