It’s a big night in Thailand tonight! Tiger Muay Thai & MMA in Phuket, Thailand is happy to throw all its weight behind Thailand’s bid to make Muay Thai an official Olympic sport. Tonight (April 3rd) will be yet another historic cornerstone moment for the art of Muay Thai. After years of training, support and endurance, the sport is ready to step into the ring and fight for International Olympic Committee’s recognition at special gala event held before key figures from the world’s leading sports governing bodies.

Under Royal Patronage and in conjunction with the The World Governing Body for Professional Muaythai (WMC), the International Federation of Muay Thai Amateur (IFMA), the Olympic Council of Asia and the Amateur Muaythai Association, Muay Thai will take centre stage as it bids for IOC recognition ultimately leading the way for the sport to become a permanent fixture in the Summer Olympic programme as well other prestigious events such as the World Games and University Games.

Bangkok Convention Centre will play host to an evening of top class Muay Thai fighters battling it out for the Prime Minister’s Cup to to be awarded by none other than her excellency, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. Also in attendance will be the Deputy Prime Minister, the Tourism & Sports Minister and Culture Minister as well as V.I.Ps from the Thai sporting community.

The evening will also coincide with the official launch of the ‘Sport is Your Gang’ campaign. An initiative aimed at promoting sport as a vital resource to help troubled youths find a place in the world sporting family.
