October 18th was a big night for Tiger Muay Thai in Singapore at ONE FC 11: Total Domination. One of the most dangerous submission artists in the world went up against a tough opponent in Tiger’s own Cody “Wolverine” Stevens. Also in action was Thailand’s own, Shannon “One Shin” Wiratchai.

American Cody Stevens, in the biggest fight of his career, faced off in the co-main event with the ever so dangerous, Shinya Aoki. Aoki, already established as the ONE FC Lightweight World Champion and the greatest Lightweight in the history of Asian MMA, competed for the first time at featherweight.

Aoki won his featherweight debut with a unanimous decision victory over Cody Stevens. Aoki dominated the fight with his takedowns but he was unable to do any real damage.
The action was stalled as Stevens kneed Aoki low early in the first round. Aoki dominated the round with takedowns although Stevens managed to land some punches. The second round was more of the same. Aoki took down Stevens, but he could not do any damage or get a submission or any attempts.

In the third round, Aoki again scored repeated takedowns, but he still could not get the finish. A lot can be said in the quality of Steven’s submission defense Even if he was on his back, Stevens did most of the work in the third.“I mean he never even got a sub attempt off on me, I don’t know how many of his previous opponents can say that?” said Stevens.

“He knew he was in a fight and I may not have got the win but I did take his soul and he knows that,” said Stevens. “ I wish I would have finished him or at least made the adjustment on defending the takedowns against the cage, but I know where I can improve and better myself for my next fight.”

What’s next for the Wolverine you might ask? “I would like to compete for the ONE FC fans again,” said Stevens.

Also in action was Thailand’s rising MMA prospect, Shannon Wiratchai. Wiratchai had a score to settle with his rematch with Mitch Chilson. Having defeated the American once with a right hook-soccer kick combination, later treated as a no-contest, he wanted to prove again he was a true victor. Wiratchai , landed a nice straight left in the first round, that sent his opponent crashing onto the canvas.

Was there any other way for Wiratchai to finish Chilson then by soccer kicks again? Wiratchai made full use of the soccer kick rules, by landing two straight kicks that knocked Chilson out senseless and took the first round victory.
