Look Ahead: TMT around the world with Felipe Enomoto, Ryan Diaz, and Mairbek Taisumov

As a frequent stopover for several professional fighters, Tiger Muay Thai & MMA Training Camp, Phuket, Thailand is no stranger on the world stage. The past few weeks saw many fighters prepare for their important bouts at the beautiful facility as Felipe Enomoto and Mairbek Taisumov are both up next.

Enomoto (6-5) is a professional MMA fighter out of Switzerland who has made the pilgrimage to TMT several times before his bouts. The 30-year-old has been competing in the cage, along with his brother Yasubey, since 2006. On Friday, May 31, Enomoto is set to light the stage at ONE FC: Rise to Power in Manila, Philippines.

This will be Enomoto’s fourth fight in ONE FC and will look to bounce back from a decision loss back in August. He will be competing against undefeated American Lowen Tynanes (4-0). Felipe will be cornered by TMT’s own and UFC veteran Roger Huerta and Brian Ebersole.

Also competing on May 31 at ONE FC: Rise to Power, is longtime guest and friend of TMT Ryan “The Lion” Diaz (13-13). He will be making his ONE FC debut against Yusup Saadulaev (9-3-1). Diaz is an explosive fighter in the bantamweight division and will be fighting for the first time since 2010.

A Strikeforce and Shooto veteran, Diaz will be looking to make noise in his comeback fight. Ten of his 13 wins have come by submission, finishing the last three opponents by KO.

On June 7, Mairbek Taisumov (18-4) will compete at M-1 Challenge 40 in a number one contender bout against Finland international Niko Puhakka (27-13). Taisumov, considered by many to be one of the top prospects fighting out of Europe not signed to the UFC, is a multiple-time guest at TMT having trained here earlier this year in preparation for a Lightweight title shot against Musa Khamanaev.

Taisumov got hurt in the lead up to his February bout with Khamanaev and had to pull out of the fight. Phuakka replaced Taisumov and lost by unanimous decision. The powers that be at M-1 Challenge scheduled this bout to see who would get the next shot at Khamanaev for the title.

“I want very much to win this fight, it would be very good to get a title shot I know I can go out there and do well,” Taisumov as he said headed back to Russia recently. Taisumov will also be joined by Huerta, making it a busy two weeks for the MMA veteran.

We wish both fighters the best of luck in their respective fights!
