DRINK WATER

Before each meal drink a glass of water. Water contains vital minerals our body needs to function as well as break down food, but it also takes up some of the space we would otherwise fill with unnecessary calories.

SLOW IT DOWN

Eating meals can sometimes be a rushed business. But savoring each bite and slowing down the pace at which we chew our food allows our stomachs to send a signal to our brains when we are full. Something that lags a little when we wolf down our meals to hurry to the next thing.

SLEEP MORE

I know…. this is stacking up to be a good list so far huh? Studies show that anything less than 7 hours of sleep revs can trigger hunger responses in our appetite that causes us to eat more than we really need to.

ADD INSTEAD OF SUBTRACT

The common mistake made when most try to get into shape is to create calorie deficits but knock out the important food we need. Subtracting foods don’t work nearly as well as adding the right ones. So if you are faced with the choice of having another slice of holiday pie and think you have to cut out calories from the healthy stuff to create a deficit, don’t. Add some veggies instead and you’ll be better off.

SKIP THE WORKOUT

If that all sounds too much to “workout” then skip it. Go hang out with your friends and bring in the holiday cheer. But do so with some fun activities. Go toss the football around, go for a bike ride, take a brisk walk. A rose is still a rose by any other name. If you can’t get to the gym because you want to be near your friends and family this holiday, but you know they won’t step foot in the gym. Bring the workout to them and disguise it as fun.

GET A MASSAGE OR ACCUPUNTCURE

Your body is a giant highway of electric signals passed along your nerves that can become like traffic jams if stressed to much. And all that stress can build up toxins in your lymphatic system. A good massage or a couple of pressure points revealed and your body will function better which includes keeping those holiday pounds off.
